Hello everyone! Fall update on our family and Business!

Time has flown by - and now the summer is over and fall is in full swing.I have not been as active here and  hope to rectify that.

I am pretty well settled in my new apartment and love being so close to the studio (I can walk the 1/4 mile or so) and to Julie. I do love it here- still more to organize and put away - but have been busy working and spending a lot of time on the computer.  Trying hard to work on some new promotions.

The summer has been busy! Julie is now president of the Detroit Professional Photographers Association and doing a great job.  So great to see her go this route as I was the president in 2008.   Ed and I are still on the board for the Professional Photographers of Michigan. Julie and ed are officially engaged - which we are all thrilled about - they are planning a small beach wedding in Florida in January before the SYNC  Senior convention she always goes to.

Aaron graduated with his class as a senior from Cousino high school.  He has one more year full time at Macomb Community College from the early college program in high school and will graduate with an Associates degree - on the state monies!  Julie had an open house for him in the summer. We also had a garage sale before I left at the house in Hazel Park and Julie had one this summer at her house.

We are working on another web site up grade - one that is a little more friendly to the mobile generation and is hopefully easy to keep up.  I wish I knew more about web design - I know what I want to do but can get in trouble when it does not turn out right (hope you didn't see the awful dark scroll background I ended up with earlier today for a short time)  The blog will hopefully be able to get fully moved over and the Animoto Videos will hopefully be able to play again.

We are loving the studio space - Julie is doing great with the High School Seniors there,  as well as other portraits like babies and families. It is so nice to meet with clients there - I can actually have the living room to myself here - without portfolio bridal photos on the wall!

The studio got a makeover - we pained the main wall facing the parking lot a bright blue - can't miss us now - and the parking lot is getting the asphalt resurfaced etc.  Looking good!

a bright facelift for the studio

Friday Football Frenzie at Cousino High School 9-3-2010

Cousino High School was voted to be Channel 4 Friday Football Frenzy's Football Game of the Week last Friday. Julie and I both photographed the pep rally at 6 in the morning. It was amazing how many people showed up and how high the spirit and frenzy was. Aaron is a Junior there this year - his friend Josh plays in the marching band and we know  some of the players and their parents and the coaches there.

Lauren Podell of Channel 4 was there and did a terrific job - it was an honor to be working next to her. She loved our images and we were so excited to see that she used one of our images as her profile pic and used some of the images on her site.

Julie photographed the actual game in the evening and had so much fun.  She was in her glory, as she used to photograph professional arena football. This is true photojournalism! We have lots of photos, links and a great slideshow on our Wally Spice Photography Fan Page

This is the video Julie just made from some of the images from the Pep Rally and the Football Game.

Pam amd Jason July 10, 2010

Wally was the main photographer at the fantastic wedding for Pam and Jason July 10. The ceremony was at Faith Lutheran Church in Troy. We had a lot of fun with the romantics in Rochester at the brewery and the Sunflower wall. Then off to fabulous Cherry Creek for some more awesome romantics, etc., and a great fun reception. I have know Pam for many years as she was one of the rainbow girls when my girls and I were active - so great to see her so mature and happy now!

I remember when we were in Rainbow, and I was growing my wedding photography business, she would say to me - when I get married you are going to be my photographer! So glad I had a chance to make that come true. Love working with the Masonic Youth and see them mature into fine young ladies and gentlemen. Great to see so many friends here too - that is always a treat.

Wish you the very best - ENJOY your new life together - from your former Mother Spice - now - Wally!

They have a great video on the Wally Spice Photography Fan Page

Anastasia and Joe 10-25-08

Julie was the main photographer for our wedding with Anastasia and Joe on !0-25-08.  The girls got ready at the home in Lake Orion and then on the the beautiful ceremony at the King of Kings Church in Lake Orion.  The reception was at the fabulous Canterbury Village.  The bride and groom and the wedding party enjoyed some fun romantics on the famous grounds of the medieval village and then everyone had a great reception in the castle hall. Courtney and Matthew 08-08-08

The magic date this year was was 08-08-08 and we had a great wedding that day for Courtney and Mathew.

We started with the girls getting ready at the home in Riverview and then went on the nearby church St Syprian for a beautiful ceremony. From there we traveled to Detroit for our “Urban Shoot”. We started at Hart Plaza by the fountain and the riverfront went on to the Fox Theater, Comerica Park and the Tiger and back across Woodward Ave to Hockey town. It was getting close to a Tiger game so lots of people around added to the fun. This was a lot of fun for all of us.

The reception was terrific also at the great Plymouth Meeting House Grande Ballroom and even ended with some sparklers.

They had photographed a great engagement session on Belle Isle and I had designed a sign in album with lots of images and romantic quotes chosen by Matt that everyone loved to browse through and sign. They also used their favorite image of ours on a Jones soda bottle favor, the cover of the program/CD booklet and a save the date magnet.

Family Session at the Henry Ford Estate

At the beginning of July we photographed Rachel and Peter and their family at the beautiful historic Henry Ford Estate. The children were darling and they had brought their Model T along for some great images.  We all had a great time making the rounds of the grounds. We had donated a Family Session to a silent auction earlier and they were the wining bid.  It is always great to be a small part of helping to preserve this historical landmark.

I have been working on the album design for Kathleen and Matt.  We are still working on it and when the final design is done I'll post the slide show. Their ceremony was at the Shrine Church on Woodward Ave in Royal Oak and we had awesome images of our "Urban Shoot" in Detroit - everyone had so much fun.  There were more romantics at the Historical Henry Ford Estate in Dearborn on their gorgeous grounds - this is where the evening finished out for the reception.Photographers on this wedding last July were Julie Proudfoot, Brian Geci and Faith Dew.

Here are 2 of our favorite album spreads so far.

Weddings Alaska Style - Congratulations Tracy and Rick

On January 26, of 2006, Tracy and Rick had small ceremony in their snow covered back yard with 4 friends, a 3 year old, and our dogs. They got married outside at -15 degrees F. It was a quick thing, that is for sure, before they all froze solid. It was so pretty out though, they didn't want to do it indoors. They will have another ceremony for friends and family in July of 2007 so everyone can plan on visiting and enjoying their beautiful state.

View their wedding album showcase at http://www.wallyspicephotography.com/bridalalbums/tracyrick.htm/ Use your browsers back arrow to return to this site please.

View inserts from her e-mail post - including the "Dr Suess vows" that I quoted in the album,  they are easier to read here.

Rick and I have some good news we wanted to share with everyone. Rick and I got officially married on thursday January 26th! We know most of you kinda expected something like this soon. We are planning to have another ceremony in 2007 for all of our friends and family from out of state. Most likely during the first two weeks of July 2007. Rick has been asking me to marry him for years now, and i keep saying not yet. I finally agreed to marry him in the end of August last year. We decided to get married now because i would hate to have him wait another year and a half. But we wanted to give our friends and family enough time to plan and to save to come to alaska. Actually we have felt like we were already married for some time now.

We are picturing a nice outside wedding up in Hatcher's Pass in the Talketna Mountain range (which is the mountains behind us). and then a big BBQ and bon fire in our back yard and catch up with everyone. We are planning to take some time off work and will be able to show people around parts of alaska. We would love have you up here to share that moment with us. Plus - Everyone should see Alaska at some point before they die. We think it is the most beautiful place on earth!

We had a small ceremony in our snow covered back yard with 4 friends, a 3 year old, and our dogs. We got married outside at -15 degrees F. It was a quick thing, that is for sure, before we froze solid. It was so pretty out though, I didn't want to do it indoors. We had our girlfriend Bonita marry us. Up here in Alaska, anyone can marry anyone. It's kinda cool. we were gonna just go to the justice of the peace, but it was more convienent to have a friend do it. We were dressed up "Alaskan style" for the ceremony. Rick in his Carharts and me in my fleece lined blue jeans, wool sweater, down jacket and ear warmers. We found a set of funny vows to say to each other. They we're Dr. Suess like. Which is kinda fitting for us actually.

It included Rick saying:

Yes, I'll love with all my heart From now until death do us part And i will love her when we're rich, And when we're broke and in a ditch, And when we're fit and when we're sick, And i will love through good and bad, And i will love when glad or sad, And I will have, and i will hold, And if i might now be so bold, I'll love her my entire life, Yes, I Will take her as my wife!

Bonita then Said:

Then if you'll take her as your wife, And if you'll love her all your life, And if you'll have, and if you'll hold, From now until the stars grow cold, And if you'll love through good and bad, And whether you're happy or sad, And love in sickness and in health, And when you're poor and when in wealth, And if you'll love with all your heart, From now until death do you part, Yes, if you'll love her through and through, Please answer with these words:

Bonita, Rick and I:

I DO!

Bonita:

You're married now! So kiss the bride, But please, do keep it dignified.

It was very cute. Bonita and Candace made up paper lunch sacks with tea light candles in them and made a aisle. Bonita's 3 year old son Gunner walked me down the isle. Everyone was humming here comes the bride. During the ceremony our dogs, Sitka a St. Bernard who will turn 2 in a couple of weeks and Sequoia who is a 2 year old cute Lab / pit bull mix, and Gunner were running around us playing. Sitka started barking at Gunner so i had her sit next to me, but when she sat down, she knocked over one of those sacks with the candle in it and the girls were stomping on it so it wouldn't catch fire. We have a video of it, it is pretty funny actually. We took a few pictures, but it was getting dark and i don't think the flash went off. My digital camera and my Canon A2 are having some serious issues, so we had to use my old Canon EOS Rebel G. I haven't got them developed yet. I want to try to learn how to download the video from the cam corder to the computer then burn a DVD. I know i have the software to do it. i just don't know how yet, I will try to learn soon and send some copies out.

After the ceremony we drove down to anchorage to the Glacier brewhouse and had a nice surf and turf dinner with our close alaskan friends and then nancy drove us back home and we had a nice night next to the wood stove and hung out with the dogs. We had friday off. We planned on going ice fishing with Bonita. (No it was not Ricks idea either, believe it or not) But since it was still 15 below zero with out the wind chill facter out on the open lake, we decided against it. We had another nice relaxed day inside.

Rick and I are doing good. I am still working in the Adult Critical Care Unit at Providence Hospital in Anchorage as a nurse. I have been "in charge" quite a bit and there is a clinical supervisor job coming up in May on my unit that I may apply for. Everyone wants me to do it and say i will do a good job. But I'm not sure if I really want to go there or not. I have an hour commute but that is ok. I don't mind it in the "daylight months" because it is so beautiful out. but in the "dark months" it kinda sucks. I hate driving in the snow in the dark. The roads up here are not that good. They don't use salt. That would attract too many moose. They usually plow at least one of the two lanes after a big snow storm and eventually sand the other lane and sand in some places. I usually just leave the jeep in 4 wheel drive, but we should really get studded tires, like most people have up here. They are legal from September to May in Alaska.

Rick is doing good too. He is measuring floors for Home Depot. There are now 4 stores in the anchorage and Matsu valley area. He is responsible for all the stores up here now. So if anyone orders flooring to be installed by Home Depot, he goes out and measures the area and figures out how much flooring they will need. He's pretty much a subcontracter of a subcontracter. He can make is own schedule. But he really puts on the miles. Much more than i do. He's looking into getting another vehicle soon also. His Tracker is not very good on ice.

Well, we wish all is well with you and your family and we invite you to come up for our wedding in July 2007. So try to save the date and maybe start planning your trip to Alaska! :-)

Tracy Spice and Rick Polzin P.S. I am keeping my last name for now at least.
